2011 Giovanni Sordo Barolo Perno DOCG

Taste the liquorice, vinosity and long ageing present in this Barolo.

If you’re a true lover of this appellation, you’ll want to add the Sordo Perno to your collection. This vineyard isn’t as well-known as others, but the Sordo family mastered the winemaking process using Slavonian oak to enhance a frame of spices that blends perfectly with the warmth of this wine. It has vibrant acidity and assertive tannins, yet there is plenty of ripe fruit to balance.

Very tasty now but mellow when aged for longer.

Giovanni Sordo winery has many vineyards located in Barolo appellations. This Perno distinguished itself for the complex bouquet of aromas, vinosity and liquorice notes. No doubt, the mix of sandy soil with clay components helps to create a wine that does not fear to age.

A wine with a fairly marked and bright colour and tonality. Its bouquet is always rich, intense and lingering, bringing sensations of great vinosity trade-off, with notes of ripe fruit, hardwood, spices and licorice. Great inner-mouth warmth, acidity and a tannicity that stands out but tends towards sweetness. Aromatic finish and great ageing prospects.

Food pairing

This wine is an excellent pairing with roasts and game.
